Milestones

The Gift of Documentary Photography

Focus & Style

The point of milestones sessions is to recognise and document important moments in your life. Nostalgic in-home documentation of the first weeks with a new baby, celebrating a significant birthday or a graduation ceremony, emotional reunions, milestone anniversaries. There is some overlap, but it’s more journalistic in nature than a family photo session and leans more towards a documentary.

A new baby session feels different from a 50th birthday, which feels different from a prom portrait. Laurine adjusts her tone and energy appropriately. Quieter and slower with a newborn, more structured and confident for formal occasions.

“The gallery you will receive works together as a collection. One that your grandchildren will actually hold in their hands thirty years from now.

All photos taken during your session will be included in your gallery. It is truly a gift for later. We might photograph multiple outfits and locations, or I just follow along a part of your day-to-day life. Anything is possible really, so I hope you get in touch with me to see how I can help you pay tribute to your occasion.

If you are looking for some beautiful family portraits to choose your favourites from, choose a family photo session. If you’re looking for much more depth and creativity, a longer session time, and more personalised journalistic documentation, book a milestone session.

Milestones have a way of passing before you realise how much they matter.
Photographs allow you, and future generations, to hold onto them.

Your Milestones in a Documentary

Documentary Milestone Sessions are intended all kinds of occasions, from ‘day in the life’ family mornings to once-in-a-lifetime events. Some families visiting the Cotswolds from abroad book a session to document their time together in our beautiful county. Some want to document a family reunion with multiple generations. Other people celebrate milestone birthdays, anniversaries, or graduations and invite me to take relaxed, natural photos.

Sessions start at two hours, giving me time to capture both the main moments and closeups/details that make up the complete memory. Everything is included: shooting, editing, and a private online gallery. So you can enjoy the session without worrying about extra costs. The aim is always to leave you with a full collection of images that feels completely yours.

“I hope you found this page and have read a bit about what my documentary milestone sessions can offer you. Not many people read these days and skip straight to the pricing page. I’m hoping you’re here because you care as much as I do about the value of true documentary photography. Whatever you have planned for your occasion, be it an event, an activity, a trip, or simply staying at home making pizza dough with your toddler: I would love to come along and witness it, and put together a beautiful collection of photos for you to remember it by.”

Mini Reportage: Maggie’s Cancer Support

In early 2025, I had the honour of documenting a powerful and emotional moment for my dear friends, Sam, Sara, and Suzy, as they shaved their heads in solidarity with Sam’s treatment for triple negative breast cancer. The session took place in Sam’s garden surrounded by family, where the sisters shaved their long hair off, raising their voices (and funds) for Maggie’s, a cancer support charity close to their hearts.

Maggie’s provides free practical and emotional support to those affected by cancer, and I’m proud to help share a small part of this story.

When something significant is happening like illness, recovery, solidarity, goodbyes, reunions, people often feel it deserves to be marked intentionally. Not just recorded on a phone.

Images communicate what words often cannot. In the middle of something overwhelming, professional photography can create clarity later that they may not have fully processed at the time.

Some moments are not celebrations, but they matter just as much.

A note on privacy…

It’s always your choice if you would like to keep your photos private and/or offline. This will be supported by your contract. Laurine will never share your photos on her website or social media channels without your permission.
