Timeless storytelling through thoughtful photography.
The first thing you will notice about Laurine’s images is that they are happy and lively. Her focus is on people’s emotions and their reactions towards each other. Some people have never met, some people have come from overseas and haven’t seen each other in years. Some see each other every single day. It’s this exciting mix of people and emotions that makes photographing weddings so interesting.
Laurine combines journalistic photography with an editorial eye, always looking for the most flattering angles and backgrounds but never staging them. She appreciates the beauty of an editorial photo and takes the opportunity to grab those high-end portraits when the timing and location are simply right.
“If you’re thinking of working with me, I’d like you to think about what documentary photography actually means to you. When you see generic terms like ‘candid documentary’, ‘storytelling’ or ‘no stiff poses’, consider what’s actually being promised. Documentary isn’t a posing style. I’ll move you into better light any day, or suggest stepping outside to have room to breathe, but I won’t stage intimacy or recreate a real moment for a photo (think: pretend signing a fake registry book, who made that one up?). I like to challenge the industry’s obsession with making weddings a production, like providing food, great music, and good company isn’t enough.”

This is what i’m here for. The unfiltered second someone
lets go, the second a room cracks open and breathes.
If you want your wedding or event to feel like a gallery of real
moments, rather than a checklist of shots, i’m your photographer!
Laurine works primarily with natural light and minimal equipment, typically using two professional camera bodies and multiple lenses to adapt quickly. She might use an on camera flash depending on the available light and the time of year, especially during winter months or evening receptions. On the morning of your wedding, she’ll introduce herself casually and just begin shooting right away to get everyone used to the camera as quickly as possible. She prepares for your timeline but improvises easily when there are any changes.
Laurine is exceptionally talented at reading a room and understanding the dynamics under the surface of a wedding day. She understands the weight of what she is documenting. That awareness sharpens her attention in a way clients may not immediately see, but they feel later. Her portfolio is bursting with life.
“I have fond memories of each and every photo I choose to show in my portfolio. You’ll notice there’s no attention to flat lays that look like advertisements in a bridal magazine. I’m showing a maid of honour barely holding it together during her speech after the ceremony. About speeches, I’m also showing a couple laughing hysterically as the best man delivered the funniest speech about an absurd memory with the groom. I’m showing the vulnerability of a bride lost in her own thoughts. A proud father. A family genuinely irritated, waiting for someone taking too long to get in the family photo. Nothing artificial, and my favourite over the perfect family portrait that came right after.”
